After resigning from the FBI in 2008 amid internal investigations, he became known for promoting anti-Muslim conspiracy theories, alleging widespread infiltration of U.S. institutions by the Muslim Brotherhood. His training sessions have been criticized for propagating misinformation and fostering anti-Muslim sentiment, leading organizations like the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Council on American-Islamic Relations to label him an anti-Muslim extremist.
