Chris Bray has been a small-town newspaper reporter, an infantryman with a series of dull assignments in the US Army, and an academic historian who fled academia after finishing his PhD and encountering undergraduates in their natural environment. He's the author of the book Court-Martial: How Military Justice Has Shaped America from the Revolution to 9/11 and Beyond, published in 2016 by WW Norton. After a Southern California childhood, he's fled Southern California a bunch of times, but he keeps coming back. Lately he lives in suburban Los Angeles with his wife and teenage daughter, and dreams of the next time they can try to leave California. He finds sanity on the road, and tells everyone he meets to "go to America" as much as possible.
