“So many lessons to learn in life. So many instances of laughter, sadness, revelation, discovery and contemplation with stories worthy of sharing. Many people I coach have a gift of gab, but not the gift of shut up, listen and converse, just gab. They are good with starting a story, filling it with useless details, occupying a load of emotional space and filling time with word salads, but having a genuine conversation seems over the top. I believe part of the problem is, they don’t know WHICH story is relevant in the moment, crucial to the topic at hand, impactful for the audience (1 0r 1,000) and invested in with proper preparation, so they tell them all… as one. The solution is creating an intentional strategy for story mining.”
