DIS08-Unlocking Knowledge: The UNESCO Debate on Amplify OER
Evelyn Brooks, the Texas State Board of Education representative for District 14, champions a vital dialogue regarding the future of education in Texas, steadfast in her mission to uphold public education's core values. Advocating passionately for students' rights to a quality education, she emphasizes the necessity of safeguarding their freedoms from indoctrination. In an insightful conversation with host Jackie Besinger, Brooks delves into the complex relationships between UNESCO and the Texas Education Agency's Amplify OER (Open Educational Resources), highlighting the contentious debates that have ignited conservative concerns. Together, they reveal critical truths and address common misconceptions, underscoring the importance of aligning our educational framework with foundational values and constitutional principles. This commitment ensures that every child enjoys access to a high-quality education grounded in freedom and integrity, guided by the perspective of an experienced teacher dedicated to protecting our educational landscape from international influences.
Her promise is to protect the innocence of children by carefully selecting and voting in favor of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) curriculum standards and the aligned curriculum materials that promote and maintain the morals and standards of Texas families. Further, Brooks will strive to be available to her constituents in District 14 so that the unheard can be heard. She looks forward to working cooperatively with members of the Texas State Board of Education, the Texas Commissioner of Education, and the Texas Education Agency to ensure that these outcomes are fulfilled.
Brooks represents constituents from the following counties: Bosque, Clay, Comanche, Coryell, Eastland, Ellis, Erath, Hamilton, Hill, Jack, McLennan, Mills, Montague, Navarro, Palo Pinto, Wise, and parts of Dallas, Denton, and Johnson counties.
